A steady, reflective and containing space for you to feel seen
Hi, I'm Alex and welcome. I am a psychodynamic therapist working with adults (18+). ‘Psychodynamic’ can seem a daunting word, but it simply means that I focus on helping people uncover and understand the hidden patterns and dynamics that influence their lives and relationships. I work with individuals from all walks of life, providing a confidential and enabling space where you can talk freely about your concerns.
My background is in the creative arts, education, and community wellbeing, and my practice is grounded in my postgraduate training in Psychodynamic Therapy with Human Development Scotland. My approach draws on psychoanalytic thinking, which explores how our early relationships and experiences can continue to shape the way we feel, relate to others, and understand ourselves in adult life. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I am committed to practising by their ethical standards.
I work with individuals experiencing a range of emotional and relational problems, including difficulties with:
Anxiety
Stress
Relationships
Grief and Loss
Addiction
Trauma
Abuse
Depression
Low Self-esteem
Sexuality
Identity
Work or retirement
Family or friends
Eating disorders
Most importantly, I work with people who want to work on themselves and need a space to be heard and understood.
I offer a free 20-minute pre-session chat to discuss how we might work together. You can request a call by calling, texting, or emailing me.
My approach is rooted in a respectful, non-judgemental curiosity about your lived experience and what you are carrying. I aim to provide a steady, reflective and containing foundation where you can safely bring your whole self into the therapy relationship, including those parts that may feel too hard to look at alone.
Together, we look to make sense of your story, identifying barriers and challenges that are impacting your sense of self, stability and confidence. Often the past impacts the present; by joining these dots and identifying these patterns, we can open new ways of thinking and relating to ourselves and others. This process can lead to choices that feel reachable: a pathway to a more fulfilling life.
Through my training, I have learnt that the most powerful tool for change is simply listening attentively. As I listen to you with genuine curiosity, this process can shift you towards deeper self-awareness, fostering insight, self-confidence, and self-compassion. I believe meaningful change begins with feeling truly seen and validated.
I work in person and online, and we can discuss what is best suited to your current circumstances.
Each session lasts for 50 minutes on a weekly basis at the same day and time each week.
For in person sessions, I practise from Edinburgh Therapy Centre on Queen Charlotte Street in Leith.
I offer a free 20 minute pre-appointment call. This gives us the opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy and to consider together whether I feel like the right fit for you.
Feel free to call, text or email me using the secure contact form below.
Each session is £60.
Sessions take place face-to-face or online and last for 50 minutes. They are held weekly, on the same day and at the same time. By us both committing to regular, consistent sessions we aim to develop a secure and trusting relationship, which I believe is an essential component to progress and change.
We will agree on a mutually convenient time for your regular sessions when we first make contact.

I offer a free 20 minute informal call. Whether you’re ready to book an initial assessment or you just have a few questions about how it all works, I’m here to listen. This initial chat is our chance to sense our suitability for one another and to figure out if I’m the right therapist to support you on this journey.
